Tell us a bit about your career to date?
I have always worked in and around the legal sector. I started in Eversheds where I spent ten years holding a variety of management and project roles developing the capability to handle volume litigation work. I then spent 7 years with NewLaw in a number of positions with accountability for developing and running subsidiary businesses and ultimately taking the position of Head of Operations for NewLaw itself. Most recently I have been Head of Probate Operations for Cooperative Legal Services, helping them stabilize and provide a platform for growth in Estate Administration.
What do you love about what you do?
All of my roles have offered me the opportunity to provide something different. It very much depends on what I am working on – but I would say planning or implementation depending on the nature of the project.
Oh, and, working with inspired and inspiring people.
What does success mean to you?
Success for me is a team game. I personally thrive on making a positive contribution to building businesses and services but you have to have the right people with the right attitudes and characters working with you or any success will be very hollow.
What do you want the next five years to be about?
The next 5 years is all about Carbon – I want Carbon to be the firm that others want to join or emulate and I want the people at Carbon to be proud of being part of it.
Away from planning and implementing, what do you enjoy doing?
I am a simple soul at heart and spending time with my wife, friends and my dog is all I need.
I play squash and follow most sports (even Darts!) but living in Wales it is rude not to follow rugby. Walking and spending time with our dog - an anxious rescue Staffie who is slowly learning to enjoy life and not worry.
Also I love travelling, I have been lucky enough to experience lots of different countries – but I would like to see a lot more. Travelling the world and seeing places I haven’t been to yet is a lengthy bucket list.
