Tell us a bit about yourself Rory?
My childhood was spent in Cardiff before heading north to university in Liverpool where I studied Business Economics. I graduated in 2016 and came back home to Cardiff to embark on my career.
What made you decide to join Carbon Law Partners?
I liked what I'd heard about Carbon Law Partners. That they were shaking things up in the legal market - doing the best for clients and lawyers. I could tell right away that they were a relaxed, friendly bunch. It's a great place to be – there's a real, homely feel to The Hub. Everyone is there for each other – it was very easy to settle in and become part of the team. I know that I'll have the chance to grow and develop at Carbon.
And your role?
As Finance Assistant I get to do what I love – working with numbers. I've always been maths focused – so getting to work with figures every day suits me right down the ground. I support the financial operation of the business, working with Partners and Clients.
What makes you happy?
Aside from maths, I love music. I grew up surrounded by musical instruments – literally. I play the trumpet, piano, violin, flute, clarinet, bass guitar and saxophone, all to a high standard.
I love travelling and have explored most of Europe (my favourite city is Copenhagen). I've also spent time in South East Asia and the USA. Exploring the Amazon is at the top of my bucket list.
A great evening for me is popping down to the pub, meeting friends, having a laugh – and to make it perfect? - enjoying a good Thai meal.
