Tell us a bit about what you do?
I specialise in commercial litigation and more specifically in shareholder disputes. I have also advised on construction disputes, breaches of director's duties, professional negligence, general contractual disputes, breaches of warranties, property and fraud disputes.
What do you love about what you do?
The variety. As a general commercial litigation lawyer I could be working on a shareholder dispute one day and a fraud case the next, in sectors that are entirely unrelated to each other.
Being able to help. A client often comes to a lawyer when they are in a very stressful situation which they have often not encountered before. I can use my expertise and experience to take away some of the fear that the threat of court proceedings creates. I can breakdown what is likely to be a large overall problem into more manageable pieces so that they can see a clear way forward to get to where they need to be.
What do you think your clients like about you?
I think my clients like my honest and commercial approach. They appreciate my determination to try and find a way to avoid disputes reaching the court stage - rather than pushing them into issuing proceedings and starting a process that they cannot easily escape from.
Tell us a few things you love doing?
Being with my wife and daughter. Watching cricket and rugby. Playing golf, skiing, getting stuck into a Ben Elton or Sir Arthur Conan Doyle book and of course a good holiday.
